Why Every Tattoo Design Should Have The original Stencil

By

What Is A Tattoo Design Stencil?

A line art or a stencil of a tattoo design is an exact copy of the tattoo design it self, but without any shading or colours, just the black out line that makes up the tattoo designs.

Why Do You Need A Good Clear Stencil?

Your tattooist will need a line art to create something called a "transfer stencil". He will use it to produce an accurate “stencil” of your design which will be transferred directly to your skin before starting the tattooing process. Once transferred he will then use the color reference of your tattoo designs to do the shadings and the colorings. You have to take both of your tattoo design printouts (the colour design and the corresponding line art) to the tattooist of your choice, to get an accurate tattoo done.

If you don't provide the tattooist a good line art of your design, he will have to create one. That will take a great amount of time and effort and and will cost you more. There is a good chance the design wont be as accurate as the one you chose.
